Well Folks,
It's official. A basin will be closing for the season Sunday, May 6th...tomorrow...sad face. Coloradans, this will be your last chance to get some lift serviced turns in before the 2012/2013 season. Hard to believe the legend is powering down it's operation so soon. Last year we were shredding that white ribbon of death all the way through independence day. Thanks to lower than average snowfall and higher than average temps A Basin has been forced to close up shop almost two months earlier than last year. Here is a rad edit of last year's closing day to get you stoked for tomorrow's festivities.
Have fun and be safe out there kids.

Enjoy!

Watch as Orage rider Tatum Monod lands a double backflip in the backcountry in Retallack, B.C. She lands it on the 4th try and then celebrates in true ski culture fashion. Watch the video to see what I mean.

Watch as Icelantic Pro Skier Josh Stack takes on the backcountry in Whistler, BC with the 2012 Icelantic Gypsy. After a setback on day one, Josh makes day two well worth his while.

We at Powder7 hope your weekend is half as epic as this video depicts. It is April Fools Day or as us mountain folk like to call Gaper Day. It is a day to embrace ski culture of yore. So get out your neon onesie and blades (80s sunglasses) and maybe don a mullet and enjoy the weekend!

A very funny Sh*t Skier Girls Say video. This was put together by big mountain skier Lynsey Dyer.

Do you wanna rock? We thought so. If the name doesn't catch your attention, the graphics certainly will. And the graphics aren't even just on the topsheets, they bleed through to the bases as well. Make a statement? Sure they do. Ride like the wind? Yes, of course. Suitable for hucking cliffs? Absolutely. Take a look at Jamie's videos below to hear more about each individual ski. Rock on!

Last week, Torin Yater-Wallace landed an 1800 during the US Grand Prix Ski Slopestyle Competition at Mammoth Mountain in California. That's 5 spins people! See it to believe it. Look at how dizzy he is at the bottom of the course. This is the future of freeskiing.

This week is the Red Bull Cold Rush 2012 in Silverton, CO. Some of the top Big Mountain skiers are out there skiing gnarly terrain. Watch this amazing video to see the lines, the expansive terrain, and to imagine one day doing that kind of skiing! The music isn't your average hip hop or dubstep either. So take 10 minutes to sit down and escape from the grind. We don't think you'll be disappointed.

The life of a pro freestyle skier is not as easy as you may think. Just watch this Line video below. This is the season edit of LJ Strenio. It starts with a major fall. Then at about 2minutes you get to see some amazing skiing at a resort. You'll see a major booter with huge gap. Then the video moves into rails at Park City. Then it moves to Windell's on the rails. Next you'll see the skiers go around town to hit rails, ledges, and other street features. I like the ledge under the bridge at the 8:28 mark. Street skiing looks like it is the most dangerous. The drops at 9:20 are pretty nuts too- if he misses one landing, he's running into a rail or falling off a drop guaranteed. Throughout the street section of the video, you'll see a lot of flat landings (or bails). It's pretty gnarly! Enjoy!
